Simmer

Every flame needs a little time to simmer

upcoming short film

Sun shines brightly on a dirt path through a forest landscape. Picture of the farm the film was shot on.

This film was born out of a desire to see more authentic Australian voices narrating stories of everyday life.

Our popular culture is saturated with stories that don't reflect the voices of most Australians. I want to draw attention to these stories by following one woman, Lily, who has pursed her passion for cooking by being a chef.

Through the contrast in style and tone between the two primary locations in this film, this narrative explores the rediscovery of someone's passion. This is not a story about drastic change and redefining our identity; it is a reflective exploration of what it takes to pursue our passion.

What happens after we lose sight of the reason we chose the path we are on?

How do we keep that original, motivating passion and love for something alive?

This story is about Lily, her passion for cooking and her rediscovery of why she chose this path in life to begin with, but it is also a voice for Australia.
